The Importance of Branding

Why is branding so important to my small/medium business?

Branding you say… “I have a logo, that’s all I need right?” WRONG!

Well, a logo helps but for a small business, a well thought out brand can be the difference over you being selected to supply services against your competitor.

For a small business, branding is one of the most important aspects of business strategy, however, it is also one of the most misunderstood.

As Damien Newman so elegantly articulated:

Brand strategy is neither branding nor brand alone. It is neither marketing, nor advertising but rather the development of a clear set of plans and actions, that are designed to support a business for the long-term.

So in a nutshell, branding is a key tool for the telling of your story, devising a plan to create and maintain competitive advantage, to boost your companies positioning and even its steer it’s reputation. After all (and I’ve said it before) it is brand elements like your name, your logo and supporting imagery that customers put the meaning of your brand to!
